The first par 3 is uphill requiring an extra club to avoid the wetland in front and to carry the bunkers. Club selection and pin position are the keys to this hole. Hole location on the two-tiered green makes a one-to-two club difference. Three putts are likely if on the wrong tier.

“The 12th is also a finesse hole. The relatively narrow driving area is defined by fairway bunkering and existing trees on the right. The mid- or short-iron approach shot must avoid the sand bunkers protecting both sides of the course’s most undulating putting surface. Three-putting is a distinct possibility if the approach shot comes to rest in any tier other than that containing the pin.” – Rees Jones, Course Architect
